Take a Bow!

OK, yes, I have a LOT of catching up to do with my blogging, but I have to begin somewhere, so here we go with all the recognition and awards my kiddos have earned as of late. It seemed that during those last few weeks of school we were going from one awards assembly to the next. This is NOT a complaint, BTW. I am super proud. Of course, if I was a better mom, I would have posted this a long time ago, not mid-July, but for posterity's sake, I suppose it is better late than never.

First, a few months ago, Caleb was awarded student of the month, which, as everyone knows, means one thing and one thing only to these guys - a rainbow sprinkled donut. 'Nuff said.

Congrats, Cabes! You are a super kid and a super student. They did not pass out end-of-the-year awards at the elementary school, but he had a stellar report card, by the way.

At the middle school, Dylan was pretty spectacular himself pulling off another 4.0 to get a Platinum Award for honor roll! It was so fun because there was a whole bunch of his LDS buddies up there with him. I was so proud of them all.

Nathan also got an award for honor roll, but he refused to let his most embarrassing mother take a picture of him. But I am really proud of him for really pulling it all together by the end of the school year. He is going to do great in High School.

We went back for an evening Student of the Year awards assembly where Dylan got a special award from Mrs. Thomas, his language arts teacher, who picked him as student of the year. These are her words:

Dylan, Congratulations on having the highest GPA in Social Studies! You have continued the great VanBuskirk tradition of having a great "thirst" for history knowledge... you labor long & hard over your quizzes with fantastic results! I wish you much continued success and I know your knowledge of the world will take you far someday!

At the high school, Alex also received honors for getting on honor roll with his nearly perfect report card.

His teacher, Mrs. Gad also selected Alex as her student of the year. She said some wonderful things about Alex, I'm sure, but there was something wrong with the microphone, so I really couldn't hear what she said.

He also got a special award from the Library for being one of the top 10 library patrons. A super reader. How about that?

On another day, Alex also was presented with a Student of the Month award for the entire science department for the month of May. Nice!

Nice job, gentlemen! Take a bow!
