Conference Weekend

I love conference weekend!  It is so wonderful to listen to our living prophets give us the words we need to hear today. I heard a lot that I needed to hear.  Of course, with a house full, there was a lot I didn't quite hear too.  That is why I recorded it and have slowly been re-watching so I can take notes and really concentrate without kid commentary.

I have no pictures, but the kids worked on their conference packets, played conference bingo for candy prizes, tallied key words, drew pictures of the apostles, etc.

It is also fun to hang around at home together all weekend, and not have to rush off anywhere.  I actually wore my PJs the whole day on Sunday, and how often do you get to do that?

Now that our kitchen is almost back to full functionality (the sink works, but still leaks, so the cleaning supplies are still stacked on the counter!), Nathan was dying to try his hand at making crepes.  He got the recipe from his French class, and he has been begging me to let him make crepes for days.  That kid is a natural in the kitchen.

One crepe, comin' up!  Yum!

He filed the finished crepes with raspberry filling and powdered sugar.  They were very yummy.  He did a great job.

On Sunday morning we had out Sunday traditional waffles.  SO YUMMY!  And especially good when you can savor them, rather than having to run off to church.

The boys also put together a candy bunny hutch, i.e. an Easter gingerbread house. They did a great job, but before we even got it into the house, Hansel (a.k.a Luke) had nibbled on most of it.

I also spend Saturday morning blowing eggs while listening to conference.  I blew out and washed 18 eggs to use later for Easter decorations.  I had put them back into the carton to dry, but that evening, when Dennis was at Priesthood session, I looked for them and couldn't find them.  Dennis had thrown them away by mistake.  He said he had no idea I had blown eggs, even though I had been exactly two feet away from him the whole time! You'd think a man would notice something like his wife blowing on an egg!  He also hadn't noticed that the carton was full of whole eggshells.  He felt really bad, and went digging in the trash cans outside until he found them.  14 of the 18 survived.

So on Sunday morning we decorated our rescued eggs.

I am so sad that another conference has come and gone, but the messages will stay with us forever, and what great messages they were, too!

By the way, Alex was not with us this weekend because he got to go to Utah to go to conference with the young men!  He had a great time, and not only did he get to hear from our leaders first hand, but they also got to go to a Jazz game!  We missed him, but I'm sure he was having too much fun to even think about missing us.

There were so any great talks!  I think my favorite was Elder Holland's talk, but it is really hard to choose.

What were your favorite talks this weekend, and which ones are you dying to hear again?

My Sydney is a crepe maker too! When she makes me crepes, I know that this parenting gig is starting to pay off. :)
