Missionary Mondays

For the last several monday nights, the missionaries, Elder Zimmerman and Elder Bresendorfer, have been coming to our home to teach us all of the discussions.  We love it!   A few months ago in Ward Council, the bishop said that the missionaries had to teach a certain number of discussions a week, and that could include member families.  My hand went right up to volunteer.  The missionaries get to practice their discussions (especially the later ones that they don't always get to with investigators), I don't have to plan FHEs for a few months, and the boys get and idea of what it is missionaries do and what they will be teaching when they are on their missions.  It is great training for my future missionaries.  And of course, the messages they teach are things we all need to be reminded of, right?  The simple basics of the gospel.  The boys have been so good and attentive and ask and answer a lot of questions.  Sometimes they get a little silly, but that happens.

Last week they also joined us for dinner last minute, which was a happy surprise.  The boys had a ball with Elder Zimmerman on the trampoline.

Dylan and Elder Bresendorfer spent a long time playing on the piano together.  Dylan will be playing the piano when he is on his mission someday, no doubt.  (It made me a bit jealous.  I wish I could play like that.)

We also learned that those elders have almost every line from The Princess Bride memorized. We had a great time reviewing the highlights from the whole movie.  Missionary Preparation Tip:  Memorize all the lines to your favorite movies before you leave, so when you can't watch them for two years, you can just act them out in your head for entertainment.  Hehe!

It is strange how the missionaries we have over seem to keep getting younger and younger, and my boys seem to be getting closer and closer in age to them.  Won't be long before they'll be the ones in the badges.  Oh my!

We are really enjoying our missionary mondays.

Had to look twice at that first picture because I thought your table was in pieces. Then I realized you were outside around the patio table. Good thing you have a backup table and that the weather is good. Looks like you are having tons of fun with those great missionaries.

I think its so great that they get to teach "member discussions". I got to do that on my mission and it was such a blessing. Not only do you reinforce the basics to active families, you also instill confidence in those families that you CAN teach and maybe they have someone to refer the missionaries to. What a great idea your "bishop" had! Love that guy!! :) Good job for raising your hand so fast, too!
