A Change of Luck!

My streak of bad luck has changed, I am happy to report!  I am now starting a new streak of good luck.  But luck (good or bad) had nothing to do with the change. This change was man-made (well, woman-made), and willfully done.  Confused yet?  Let me explain.

While dropping my afternoon kinder kiddo, late, I ran into my good buddy, Roxanne, who was picking up her morning kinder kiddo.  She made the mistake of asking me how I was.  Well I told her, poor girl.  I told her all about the streak of bad luck that I have detailed in my previous post, then proceeded to tell her how yesterday's luck had carried over into today, culminating with Luke knocking over some glass bottles just as we were walking out the door, and I would have to go home and clean up shards of glass spreading from the dining room to the kitchen.  I was grateful for her listening ear, and her smile.  "Your luck is about to change," she assured me with a chuckle.  I hoped so.

Not two hours later I get a knock on my door.  It was Roxanne!  She had a gift bag in her hand!  Apparently she wasn't so sure my luck was about to change on its own, so she decided to do something about it herself. (That's quite a woman who can take on luck like that!)  So she drug her 3 little kids to the mall (Imagine that! to the mall! 3 kids!  I stopped taking kids to the mall several years ago after an incident involving twins and 3 destroyed mannequins!) and went to Bath and Body Works to find me a treat.  She did that for me!  Her only explanation was, "I thought I'd start you off on your streak of good luck now."

That girl!  I don't even know what to say.

Why can't I be a friend like that?  I don't even know if I can think like that.  But I sure am lucky to have friends like that, especially on a day like today!  Her gesture was completely unnecessary and undeserved, and absolutely perfect at the same time.

So now I still have no cell phone, my house is still hot (and getting hotter every minute) and I am still finding slivers of glass in far places with my bare feet.  But I have a bag full of lotions and such that smell like warm vanilla sugar, and a friend who loves me.  This, therefore, is certainly my lucky day!

Thanks Roxy!  You are simply incredible!
