On Saturday morning we attended the ground breaking for our new church building right here in Bermuda Dunes. There was a choir number, and a few short talks describing the new building, and giving the history of the LDS Church here in the valley.
It was an exciting and happy time for all the members in attendance, even if it was a bit on the warm side.
The Signs family has been here in the desert for 33 years, and we have seen a lot of changes in the church here in that time. We were so excited to be there to witness this next big step!

We each took our turn digging in!
And some worked extra hard!
Nate and his buddies, Carson and Tanner, really put their shoulders to the wheel to make the work of the Lord move forward. Press on, gentlemen. Press on!
But not Luke. Luke was in a foul mood, and he wanted me to know it. So he ran off into the middle of the desert, sat, and had a pity party. This is how Alysa looks all the time now, with her big ol' camera in front of her face. I think we look even more alike now that we have the same camera.
Now that the ground is broken, we are looking forward to see what arises from the desert floor!
The best part about it was the drive home. It took less than 4 minutes! Yippee!!!

I agree. It was very cool to be apart of this event. I thought it was so historical and signifigant for us here in the desert. Buildings don't go up that often here & it will be great to watch the church literally grow right here!
At first I thought Luke was praying. I thought to myself wow Rachelle knows how to raise some spiritual kids, the I read your pic description :).
Yah, that's it. He's praying. He's killing me with all that praying he does!
Yea! I'm excited that you'll have a church so close! We're so used to seeing new churches popping up all the time here in Utah, it's not a big deal to us anymore. But it IS a big deal everywhere else! Congrats!
