I know its been a week since Valentines Day, but I still need to post my Valentines' projects. Better late than never, right. But I am SO excited about a few of these projects!
Valentines Day really inspired me this year!
A little hold over from Christmas - perfectly suited for Valentine's. I made these for my young women. Chocolate Dipped peppermint sticks that I decorated with pretty hearts I embossed black on red paper, punched two holes in the middle and threaded on with grosgrain ribbon. So cute! I passed them out in a pretty little milk glass basket, above. Perfect! The girls loved them.
For a few friends I made these super cute little boxes using my SU Big Shot. It is made from four little envelope templates taped together to made a scalloped edged box. Again, I embossed the same heart stamp and embossed it, this time on white. Really, really cute!
I made each of my boys one of these - a big heart shaped lollypop. The back says, "Have I TOAD you lately that I love you?"
The way to a man's heart is through his stomach, and with a houseful of men to love, I had to make a little effort at lovin' from the oven. I made 3D heart shaped jello (I have a mold), and canned biscuits were shaped into hearts using a cookie cutter. I didn't cut the biscuits, they were similar in size to the cookie cutter. I just pressed the entire biscuit dough into the shape of the cutter. And of course, for the meat and potatoes man, heart shaped read meatloaf on a bed of mashed potatoes. I thought it turned out pretty fun!
I also got a bit carried away with the decorations this year. I have never done much by way of Valentines decorations before, but this year I was inspired!
Where Love is. Instead of getting (and storing) Vday wreaths for my front door, I found these sparkly red hearts at TPT for around 3 bucks each and simply tied them with swirly red Christmas ribbon onto the green wreaths that hang on my door all year. I was thrilled with how it turned out. A pop of sparkle and color when you walk up the front steps.
Enter, My Love!
I just love these niches in the entry way! It really is a great place to decorate for each holiday and display my banners.
I decided to decorate these niches with love photos, so I antiqued several pictures of our wedding...
and couples, like my parents, and Dennis' parents, and even an old wedding portrait of my great, great grandparents, and put them in silver frames. This was just a last minute idea, and I need to dig a little deeper and find a few more couple pictures of our ancestors.
I got the red sparkly fabric at JoAnns super cheap. 75% off because it was Christmas fabric. Perfect!
Speaking of fabric, I used fabric to make one of my absolute FAVORITE PROJECTS EVER! I am very excited about this! You might have seen some of my other banners (Halloween, Christmas, Party) I have made out of scrapbook paper with my Big Shot. But this time I wanted to try making one with fabric. It was SO fun to make, and I absolutely Love the fabric banner. I want to make fabric ones for every holiday from now on. Just as easy as paper ones, and much sturdier and more fun to work with. The shiny red fabric on each banner was also clearance Xmas fabric.
I just cut the fabric with my Big Shot machine, then sewed them together onto this perfectly delectable black and white wide grosgrain ribbon. When you cut out the banners, these little scalloped circles are also cut, so I tried stitching several together and came up with these totally darling little rosettes that I tacked between each pennant. Then I inked up some SU chipboard hearts and letters, doused the in glue and dumped chunky glitter on them. Don't you just love this banner? It is so whimsical and Victorian, and this year I am really into the red and black, and sparkle.
On the dining table, I used the red toile tablecloth I already had, and a sweet striped runner I found on clearance at Homegoods. For me, chocolate and Valentines go hand in hand, so I stacked up my milk glass cake plates and filled them with the totally mouthwatering realistic fake cakes and chocolates, and this chocolate tile I made with vinyl lettering.
Sweet! That says it all.
I found these mirrored hears at TPT for $1.91 each and tied them to the back of the dining chairs for an easy, cheap, and festive touch. A sweetheart deal!
A few cheap glittery heart garlands are strewn on the chandelier in the entryway.
Stuck on you. I also made I make a few chipboard glitter hearts and stuck them right onto the glass of a few of our pictures using glue dots. Can you just feel the love? Isn't this just such a fun and simple idea for a pop of color?
I had several darling reproduction old valentines, and displayed them in the family room under the delicious banner I found at TPT. It looks like vintage valentines, glittered, and sewn onto red ric-rac. It is 12 feet long, and only cost $11!
I made a copy of a picture I took of my newborn Luke, pasted it onto chipboard, cut him out, then decorated him with tin wings, a arrow, and a fuzzy heart on his chest to make a little cupid! Then I set him in some colorful red and pink candy corn. This little cupid has won my heart!
I love my Valentines Day decorations so much that I have decided to leave them up all month. Love certainly deserves more than one day of celebrating, right?
Happy belated Valentine's Day!
P.S. If you like, or LOVE, anything that you see, then it is time to get excited because my buddy Alysa and I are working on a new creative blog! That means even more fun ideas, tutorials, and creative endeavours. Check back here next week for the grand unveiling! You won't want to miss it.
