We did it. We made it happen, and celebrated Dylan's recovery at the Happiest Place on Earth. We took the kids out of school on Thursday and went to Disneyland, stayed at a nearby hotel, then went to California Adventure on Friday. Lukie got to have his own adventure staying at Grandma and Grandpa's.
The pictures aren't great because I only brought my little point and shoot, because I didn't want to have to risk destroying my good camera. But I spent the whole time fighting with the stupid little camera trying to get it to do what I wanted it to do.
It was Caleb's first time at Disneyland, and he had a BLAST! It was so fun to watch him get so excited about everything. Disneyland truly is magic when you are 5. And happily, Caleb was tall enough (and brave enough) to ride on every single ride - no questions asked!

We had never been on the Buzz Lightyear ride before. Caleb loved it, of course!
Caleb was thrilled with getting his very own drivers license on Autopia. He was really concentrating as evidenced by the tongue.

The Nemo ride was new for us too! Kids loved it, and mom and dad loved a dark place to sit and relax.

Quick Flick. We treat the boys each to a penny movie on Main Street. Hey, it was in out budget.
Nathan was so sweet to hold Caleb up so he could see.
Nathan had a great time trading pins from his vast collection. (Pssst. Look for the hidden Mikey.)
We had a GREAT time. The weather was perfect, and it was uncrowded. We walked onto most rides, and the longest line we stood in was 1/2 hour.
Good bye Disneyland.
It certainly is a happy place.

It looks like you guys had so much fun. Isn't Disneyland the best? I love Lillie's pics of you, you look great, and I am not just saying that.
Hurrah for Disneyland!! We get to go next week with my parents and brother when they come to visit :) Looks like you guys had a great time!
One more thing... does Nathan (or you) have any pin trading tips for us? This will be our first time trading... we've visited the site and read up on it, but never talked to anyone who has actually traded... thoughts? :)
Shelly, I am so glad that you went. You all needed that a lot. It looks like it was just the perfect day!! How is the small world ride? Last time I was there it was closed for renovations. Did they make it any different?

At few things.
First you are so busted for takeing flash photography on those rides.
Second Does Nate look like you or Dennis? In the picture of him on the Mattahorn he looks so much like you.
Third are those really your boys? they are looking so stinken old and you so young.
Forth you did a great job with a point and shoot.
And I'm so glad you guys went. We used to love going there with the kids. We love you guys.
Lisa, yes, they did change the Small World Ride. They added all the different Disney movie characters into the scenes. Like they added Timon and Pumba in the African scene, Lilo and Stitch in the Island scene, Cinderella in Europe, etc. They also added a lot to the America part - farmers and a Hollywoodish thing. I don't know If I liked the changes. Adding all the disney characters felt like they were shoving the commercialism down our throats, but I guess it was time for an update.
I am so jealous, especially living here in Abilene. But you totally needed and deserved a great day at Disneyland. I can't think of anything better. Good for you.
What a fun couple of days for your family. You've been through a lot and it must have been so nice to get away for a little while. Good for you! Wish we could've joined you. :)
I loved all your fun pictures! I was a bit jealous when your husband called Jeff Thurs. night while he was walking around disneyland. Please let us know when you guys are going again. It would be fun to go before the baby gets here. The last time Jeff and I went together was right after we were married. about 11 yrs ago. I'm sure it's gotten better & more magical.
