Signs Family Play Day

The Saturday after Christmas was a beautiful day, so we made last minute plans to go to the park.  We invited my parents, my brother and his family, and my sister and her family to join us.  Our little impromptu family party turned into an all day event, as none of us wanted to leave until it started to get dark.

Luke braves the freezing sea mist rising in front of the giant play ship.  Nice on a hot summer day, but not in December.

Dylan and Rick's darling baby Jon Reo,  Luke calls him "RERO."  Jon is the only one of Dylan can out-run. Used to be Dylan could easily outrun all of us.

The cousins spent hours spinning in infinity on this lopsided merry-go-round of sorts.

Can you feel the love in this brotherly embrace?

We played all kinds of games while there - tennis, basketball, Frisbee...  But by far, the funnest of all was a whole-family game of sand volleyball.  Everybody played, grandparents, parents, kids.  Even Dylan played, on strict orders that he had to stand in one place and let the ball come to him.  It was the end of the day, and the sand was SO COLD.  After a while it felt like we were playing on tiny shards of glass - but we were having so much fun we didn't want to stop.

We all talked about that game for days.

Sometimes those unplanned, drop-it-all-and-go-and-play-together days are the very best.

It looks like fun. We wish we could have been there.

That was such a great day. We need to make it happen more often. Yes the only thing that would have made it better would be if Mindy' and Natalee's families could have been there.
