This past school year, a few of my boys did some pretty cool projects. I know some parents hate these kinds of assignments, but I love them!
Dylan had to make a model of a castle and label all the parts.
Dylan is amazing. He made this absolutely all by himself! It is awesome and there are great details! Literally, all I did was the shopping - basically styrofoam and granite spray paint. Oh, and a couple of cans of Pringles. He figured out everything out himself. He spent hours off the the corner working and then he brought me this. I was blown away!
In the courtyard, the fountain is made out of different sized spools and blue glitter glue and the bushes are clumps of moss.
Believe it or not, the draw bridge actually works! He figured out the mechanics of it himself.
I love this project. his teacher loved it too. I really think Dylan should be an architect.
Alex is my baker, and has a BIG thing for candy, so when his biology teacher requested a cell model, he decided he wanted to make a cake and all the parts of the cell could be candy. So we took a picture of a cell to the candy bins at WInco to see what we could find. In one bin we found mitochondria and in another we found ribosomes. Who would have thought?
The coolest part is the nucleus, which is made from a giant jawbreaker that Grandpa helped Alex cut a section out of so that won can see the layers, and the center of that is a nonpareil gumdrop. Cool, huh?
The teacher was so impressed that when they had to do a report on an endangered animal, she requested another cake. This was green sea turtle was done mainly with fruit roll ups.
Finally, Alex had to make a DNA model, so we stuck with the candy thing and made another trip to Winco. This took a bit of construction, but it turned out great.
Great job boys!
