Disneyland is beautiful in the spring, with the blooming pink trees and flowers everywhere. The kids were so excited, and the moms were even more excited. Disneyland with only one kid each. Dreams really do come true here!

Our first stop: the bakery of course! Got to start the day with sugar and carbs to give you enough energy to get through the day.
Luke was tickled that he could have a whole Mickey cookie to himself and did not have to share with his brothers for once.
You must understand. When we go to Disneyland with our family, it kills Dennis to buy food there. We bring in our own sack lunches, and maybe once and a while Dennis will splurge and buy something fun. Like one turkey leg...
for everyone...
to share!
Seriously.
It is nuts. And those boys attack it like a pack of vultures, and poor Luke, the runt of the litter, is left with the scraps.
Not today!
Luke got to pick his own, and so did I. I ate my yummy Matterhorn macaroon, with the white frosting on top, right under the shadow of the real (fake) Matterhorn. Then we were off for a day of fun!
Since we were here celebrating their birthdays, they each got their own Happy Birthday button. They were treated like stars all day long!
These are three crazy little kids! I love six year olds!
Who knows?
The great thing about this day was that when we come to Disneyland as a family, Luke (and Mom) usually get drug around to whatever "big" rides Dad and the older brothers all want to go to. This time, though, the little ones got to do what they wanted to do and go on the smaller kiddie rides that we usually pass as we are rushing off to the next big ride.
This time the moms decided to just let each of the little ones take turns choosing what ride they wanted to do next. It was a great plan.
They agreed on the first choice - the Merry-Go-Round!
Round and round we go!
Next, the kids wanted to visit Toon Town. Poor Luke has never been to Toon Town in all the times wee have been to Disneyland. His brothers would never allow it. In fact, he didn't even know it existed. His brothers always told him that that was the princess land over there.
They had a ball in Toon Town. Luke must think his big brothers are crazy for not wanting to come here!
Luke put his arm around his buddy, but Mav wouldn't have it. Hilarious. (I bet he wouldn't have minded it if were Brinley's arm.)
It's a Small World was their next choice. We got in line just in time to watch the glockenspiel go.
Another ride my older boys would never go for - the Storybook Boat ride. Poor Luke has always wanted to float into that whale's mouth. Who wouldn't?
He finally had his chance. All right!
By now we really needed some nutrition. Time for cotton candy!
They loved the trip in the submarine! And, believe it or not, we found Nemo!
But then it was time to do something I have always wanted to do at Disneyland - eat at the Blue Bayou. You know, the restaurant that you float by on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, where you always have dinner under the stars, no matter what time of day? I truly have been wanting to eat there since I was a little girl! But since it is a bit pricy we could never go with our whole family. (If Dennis makes everyone share one turkey leg, you know he would never go for a family trip to the Blue Bayou.) I was excited!
The birthday celebrities got their own pirate hats for the occasion!
We had a great dinner under the stars with the bayou crickets chirping and the fire flies glowing. It was magical, just like I had imagined as a little girl. The food was actually really good. We moms couldn't make up our minds, so we ordered 3 different entrees and shared. Yum!
The kids were even treated to a birthday treat! What a great way to celebrate!
When we were finished, it was strange to step out of the starry night and into the sunlight.
What a great memory it was to spend the day with my sweet Luke, and explore Disneyland our way together!
And it was equally special to spend the day with Dayna and Roxanne. How I love these ladies! It really didn't matter what the kids picked to do. We were just having a great time talking and laughing together everywhere, all day long!
And I have learned that going to Disneyland with Roxanne is a huge advantage. She knows everything about this place, the best food, the best entertainment, and all of the hidden wonders that nobody else knows about
For instance, she was determined that we find this guy: Farley the Fiddler! He was so great, and somehow Roxy knew that he is LDS, so we asked him to play Popcorn Popping. He did, but not until he surprised us with his lively rendition of "Come Come Ye Saints." It was fun to see a few folks turn their heads and smile when they recognized the tune. Farley knows how to pick mormons out of a crowd.
Farley put on a little show for the birthday kids. It was Fun with Farley - just like it said on the stickers he passed out to them.
Walt, Mickey, and three little Mousketeers.
The kids did pick one ride that Luke's brothers would have approved - Space Mountain! I love that picture!!! Look at those kids' faces. Hilarious.
It was a long day for these little guys, and we decided to call it a day and head home, but not before catching a glimpse of some of the parade.
We finished the day with one more ride - a train ride around the whole park on the Disney Railway. It was a great way to wind down (and see a few dinosaurs too.)
It was really a fun day! Those little guys had such a fun, special day. And I was really proud of them. They got along so well the whole time, and just laughed and giggled together. They were really good about doing whatever it was their friend picked to do when it was their turn, and they never wandered off or anything.
I had such a fun day too! Roxanne and Dayna are nuts, and we spent the whole day giggling and laughing together too! Those two gals can TALK! And talk fast! I felt like I couldn't get a worn in edgewise, and when I did, I felt like I was always a few topics behind! You'd think we'd run out of stuff to talk about. Never ever! Impossible.
Thanks Dayna and Roxanne, and Brinley and Mav, for doing this grand adventure with us. It was a super day and a memory we will always cherish - the day we did Disneyland...our way!
