Mont St. Michel by Night

On our first evening in France, we arrived at the famed island fortress/church, Mont St. Michel, just after sunset, and just in time for me to try out my new tripod!  Since it was so dark, my shutter had to stay open much longer that I could hand hold it still, so the tripod made all the difference.

I had to stand out in the middle of nowhere in 3 inches of mud wearing leather sandles and be pelted by freezing rain  to get these shots.  Sure hope they were worth it!
