Home Away From Home

I know nobody really cares, but since I am doing this blog for myself, as my journal, I want to remember EVERYTHING about this trip, hence long posts with all the pictures that you have to scroll through.  Sorry.  And that means I also want to record the hotel we stayed in - just for my own benefit.  If you don't care, then move on to the next exciting post.

For the remainder of our trip, we stayed at the Marriott Ile de France timeshare.  It is outside of Paris to the East, just near Disneyland.  (Disneyland is the strangest thing - way out in the French country side.  You are driving along, there are stone farmhouses and cows grazing, then suddenly on the horizon is the Tower of Terror.  Kind of bizarre!)

Our first hotel room was a nightmare, and our second was a fantasy!  This one is not a 15th century abbey with a view of a castle, but it would not be fair to judge all hotels by that standard, would it?  That in mind, they were great accommodations.

The rooms that the Marriott are darling townhouses, and the entire hotel is made to feel like a French village, complete with a city square.  I thought is was terrific.

This was our town house with the fun brickwork.  Cute huh? The back patio has a small stream running behind it and a view of a golf course.  The town houses wrap around a small lake.  We had to walk around the lake to get to the lobby.

We missed some things by not being right in the city, but what we gained by being out in the country was space - lots of space!   Downstairs was a large living area and a fully loaded kitchen (that saved us a lot of $$$ on eating out!), a laundry room (yes!) and a bathroom.  I loved the spindly staircase banister, and green chair rails.  Monet prints, and botanicals hung on the walls.
I loved our room with the pitched ceiling and the round windows.  It was done in yellows and reds.  I liked the yellow french doors on the closet, and the yellow tiles in the bathroom.  The Monet print opposite the bed made me happy.

My parent's room was just as cozy in reds and yellows, and their bathroom had fun green tiles.

We had a great stay there.  Free internet was also big plus!  Never had time to make it to the pool, but we did venture into the lobby every night after midnight to call our kids when they got home from school.  Yawn!

The only downside was that we were not in the city.  There was a train that went into town, but the hotel's shuttle to the train station was iffy.  We ended of keeping our rental car and driving into the city (not for the faint of heart!)  Besides that, it was pretty terrific!

OK, now that that is done with, lets get on to the good stuff!

Ah yes! It was so nice to come home after a long day of touring to fall into a comfy bed with "fedderbetten" comforters. Loved it.
